They have both been dating each other for around 13 years. In one of the interviews, Sunil shared his dating phase with Sonam. Her father was a coach of Sunil Chettri, and he talked a lot about Sunil at his house. When she was 15 years old, she took the phone number of Sunil Chhetri from her father’s mobile phone. After that, she sent a messageto Sunil, where she expressed her desire and respect to meet him. Initially, he thought that she was a child when they met for the first time, but they continued connecting with each other by texting for about two months.
